Erst Scheibe, dann kartoffelartig

Prof. Dr. Carsten Münker, Köln: The early history of the Earth
It is still an open question what physical and chemical conditions made Earth the only known habitable planet in the solar system, and how Earth became a habitable planet. The key events that shaped the Earth occurred during the first 500 million years of Earth history. In my talk, I will review some key events and milestones in Earth’s earliest history. This is not a trivial task, as the oldest archives of these events, namely geological samples, are significantly younger. I will therefore also highlight some state of the art tools, how modern Earth Sciences can unravel geological processes on the Early Earth.
Prof. Dr. Carsten Münker is professor for geochemistry and cosmochemistry at University of Cologne, Germany, since 2009.
